The Adventures of a Freelance Writer and Editor

In today’s technology obsessed world, an online platform is essential for aspiring authors. Agents, editors, and readers want to be able to find you online. They want to see what you are doing and hear what you are thinking, but building a following can be challenging. In walks the Third Writers’ Platform-Building Campaign, which provides support for writers trying to build their online platform. The campaign provides a community to help bloggers build their platform. The campaign runs from August 22nd to October 31st, and features three campaign challenges. I am very excited to meet other writers, especially picture book and YA writers. To learn more and sign up, click here.

  3. Hi April – thanks for stopping by my blog! I love yours! I think I might have seen you at WOC last week… you seem familiar…? Anyway, it’s great to meet you! What do you write?

    • Hi Susanna, Thank you. I was at WOC last week. I write picture books and YA. I also am a commercial freelance writer and editor, so I write blogs, grants, website copy, etc.

  5. Hi April,

I joined the campaign as well. I don’t see a button to become a follower of your blog.

    • Because it is a wordpress site, there is an email subscription button instead of a “follow” button. It is locaed on the right hand side of my homepage.

  20. Hi, we’re in the same Campaign group but I had a bit of trouble finding you as the link on your picture took me to the wrong place. Just thought I’d mention it. Looking forward to getting to know you better.

  21. Hi, April, fellow Campaigner here. I look forward to getting to know your blog a bit better. See you out there….

  22. Hello! Fellow new campaigner here. I’m also planning to get on the Labor Day Blogfest party. You mentioned looking for new gigs as a freelancer. Have you looked into Helium.com? I have written some here and there with them. Not so much about getting big gigs, but lots of little ones that might lead to bigger things. I graduated from college last May and so I am just now getting to the place where I have enough time (and energy) to write for the sake of writing. Helium.com was one place where I found potential opportunities that I didn’t have time to really explore. Hope it helps you. Happy Writing! Kris
